On 1 July this year a new system will be brought into operation as part of the general access control to the Port of Bilbao. The objective of the system is to control and check entry and exit movements of vehicles and people within Port areas, increase security levels, automate data taking and equip the Port Authority with a system that regulates vehicle flow into the Port zones with a view to maximising logistics management and port operations there.
In addition, in order to comply with current legislation, the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code requires Port Authorities to adopt a series of measures to guarantee port facility security, among which access control to the same is included.
For heavy vehicles, pre-notification of entry in the Port of Bilbao must be sent beforehand. To do this, we have made a web application available on the e-puertobilbao (www.puertobilbao.sktdevserver.com) platform for the introduction of data concerning number plate, date, cargo and terminal of destination for general and bulk cargo, and more detailed data for container cargo.
Reduct procedures and save time
For light vehicles access control will be by accreditation card or checkpoint identification and in the case of people accreditation or checkpoint identification will be needed.
